REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT. The Territory’s Digital Equity (DE) Team, housed under Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (viNGN), is requesting public input on the U.S. Virgin Islands Digital Equity Plan (USVIDEP). The purpose of the USVIDEP is to present a roadmap for how the Territory can become more “digitally resilient.” A place where Virgin Islanders can have access to the same range of digital resources as Mainland Americans – like affordable high-speed internet, a range of digital devices, and programs/trainings that can support us to build, or hone, new marketable digital skills – without having to leave the Islands.

The USVIDEP is funded by the Biden-Harris Administration’s Internet For All Initiative, under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and is managed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). In accordance with the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the State/Territory Digital Equity Planning Grant Program, the USVIDEP must be posted online for at least 30 days to gather public comment. All comments will be considered, responded to, and incorporated into a revised DE Plan before final submission to the NTIA. The public comment period for the USVIDEP ended on April 28, 2024.
